FRANKFURT Airport, Germany's largest, first half cargo throughput declined 1.8 per cent year on year in the first half to 1.04 million tonnes.
In June, air cargo volume dropped 2.5 per cent year on year to 173,984 tonnes.
Accumulated maximum take off weights (MTOW) rose 2.4 per cent year on year to 2.6 million tonnes. Aircraft movements were up 0.8 per cent to 42,288 takeoffs and landings.
Frankfurt airport served 5.7 million passengers, up 2.8 per cent year on year, the busiest June in FRA's history. Two records were set: The number of passengers per flight (145.7) and the MTOWs per aircraft movement (124.2 tonnes).
Said Fraport chairman Stefan Schulte: "These figures prove that aircraft movements have had only an under-proportional impact on Frankfurt's passenger growth - due to larger aircraft being deployed and to higher seat-load factors for flights operating at FRA."
